Wii just a novelty - Sony

Sony Computer Entertainment America communications exec Dave Karraker has taken a pop at the hugely popular Nintendo Wii console. He believes that PlayStation fans are more likely to wait until they can get a PS3 than buy another console but if they do go down the Nintendo route it'll just be a short term love affair.

"We feel very confident that the PlayStation fan is going to wait until they can get a PlayStation 3," he told the Wall Street Journal. "If they do pick up a Wii, it's as more of a novelty."

Sony made similar comments when the DS and PSP went head to head.
