Danish psychiatrists to use Counter-Strike
CS has a unique 3D design, which the Psychiatric Hospital in Aarhus, Denmark, will use in a major science project regarding long-term depressions.
Usually we hear lots of (mostly) nonsense regarding games being harmful. Well… it seems that scientists now want to use games for a good purpose. The Psychiatric Hospital in Aarhus, Denmark has decided to use Counter-Strike in a major science project regarding long-term depressions.
Computer expert Christian Güttler will develop a special version of Counter-Strike for the hospital, which is ripped of all violent content, but still retains its unique 3D design, which is the key. Senior doctor Poul Videbech wants to use the maps for testing the navigational skills of patients, who have suffered from severe depressions over a long time.
- The game engine that Counter-Strike is based upon is extremely good for modelling buildings and visualising architecture compared to the alternatives on the market, Christian Güttler told the news-bureau Ritzau.
